Eigo Nomura joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 1992, where he has served in a variety of capacities with a focus on Japan's industrial and trade policies.


He has been working in diverse fields, including at the Ministry of Finance since 2011 in charge of WTO affairs, at the Cabinet Office since 2012 in charge of national space policy, and at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI; ex-MITI) since 2014 in charge of distribution policy at the Commerce and Information Policy Bureau.


He then devoted himself to the reconstruction of the affected areas damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck Japan in 2011, including the handling of the accident at the nuclear power plant.


From 2021, he worked in the Cabinet Secretariat, contributing greatly to the realization of the "Digital Garden City" initiative, which aims to harness the individuality and vitality of Japan's rural regions through the power of digital technology.


From 2022, he worked at the Japan Patent Office, in which his portfolio included dealing with trademark related issues as well as supporting intellectual property strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises, before assuming his current position.

He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1992 (B.A. from the Faculty of Economics), and received M.A. of International Relations from the Australian National University in 2000.
