Deputy Foreign Minister of Hungary

Dr László Szabó obtained his degree at the Medical University of Debrecen, where he worked as a General Physician at the 1st Department of Surgery between 1990 and 1993. He began his pharmaceutical career in 1993 at the Hungarian subsidiary of the American-headquartered Eli Lilly and Company. He held several positions as the company’s employee in England and New Zealand between 1995 and 2004 before returning to Hungary as a General Manager in 2004. In 2007 he was appointed Senior Director of Human Resources for Global Medical, Regulatory, Patient Safety in the United States, and from 2010 he served as the company’s HR Vice President in China. Between October 2010 and June 2014, he worked in Hungary as TEVA’s Chief Executive Officer. Since 1st July 2014, he has been working as State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade and on 1st October he was appointed Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade. As a recognition of his endeavours and contribution to business development, entrepreneurship and public service, he was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of Hungary in 2013.
