Tourism generated thousands of new jobs in Georgia – the was the statement by the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili in his speech delivered at the session Investing and Trading Opportunities in Georgia at the Tbilisi Belt & Road Forum.

First Vice Prime Minister stated that the revenues from tourism into the country’s economy will reach 2 billion USD by the end of 2017.

Dimitry Kumsishvili also talked about the Tourism Development Strategy of Georgia, which covers the development strategy of the sector up to 2025. The Strategy was prepared with the support of the World Bank and it aims at hosting 11 million international travelers by the year of 2025. 

First Deputy Minister noted that there are vast opportunities for tourism development in Georgia. The Minister highlighted that the Government will continue to support tourism via spending about 50 million GEL on the infrastructure as well as on other priorities of the sector.
