Qian Keming

Deputy Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China

Mr. Qian Keming, male and of Han ethnicity, was born in Langxi, Anhui Province in September 1962.

He started his career in August 1987 and joined the China Democratic League.

Qian holds a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Anhui Agricultural College, a master’s degree in genetics and breeding and a doctorate in agricultural economy management from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and worked as a research fellow at CAAS.

He has been receiving the special government allowance of the State Council since 2008.

He worked successively as an assistant research fellow at the Institute of Agricultural Economy, General Manager of the Science and Technology Development Corporation, Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation and Industrial Development Bureau, Director-General and PhD supervisor of the Institute of Agricultural Economy and Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

He was appointed Director-General of the Center for Agricultural Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Agriculture (also as Secretary-General of the agricultural branches of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China Chamber of International Commerce) in July 2005.

He became Director-General of the Department of Market and Economic Information of the Ministry of Agriculture in September 2008 and subsequently Director-General of the Department of Development Planning of the Ministry of Agriculture (also as Director of the Office for National Agricultural Resources Planning) in February 2011. He became Chief Economist of the Ministry of Agriculture in December 2013. In April 2015, he was appointed Vice Minister of Commerce.

He served as a member of the Standing Committee of the 11th and 12th CPPCC National Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the China Democratic League Central Committee.
