NEWS / Georgia-China Free Trade Agreement Comes in Force on January 1, 2018

The Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China will come in force on January 1, 2018. This statement was made by the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitri Kumsishvili upon the completion of the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Commerce of China, Qian Keming. The meeting was held within the frames of the Tbilisi Belt & Road Forum where the main aspects and prospects of the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

Dimitry Kumsishvili noted that the Deputy Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Qian Keming confirmed that the Agreement will become effective in China on January 1, 2018. “As you well know, Georgian Parliament ratified the Agreement a couple of weeks ago and today, the Deputy Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of the People’s Republic of China  also confirmed that the Free Trade Agreement between our countries will come in force starting January 1, 2018,” – Dimitry Kumsishvili stated.
