First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, during his speech at the Tbilisi Belt & Road Forum, talked about the on-going reforms and highlighted two priorities – facilitating savings and supporting production.

“We believe that on-going reforms are promoting the sustainable development of the country,” – Dimitry Kumsishvili noted and talked about the on-going and scheduled reforms stipulated by the 4-point plan of the Government including the capital market development, pension reform, launching the PPP mechanism, deposit insurance reform and others.

Dimitry Kumsishvili said that Georgian Government takes decisions only after detailed examination of the issue and revealing if it is feasible, beneficial and useful. 

The First Vice Prime Minister also talked about the education sector, which he finds a sector that need fundamental reforms. He also talked about the Spatial Planning reform that involves significant investments in the transport and logistic infrastructures. According to Dimitry Kumsishvili, investments in the road infrastructure is a part of the Silk Road development. He emphasized the development of East - West and North - South corridors, infrastructure of Ports, railway rehabilitation, etc.
